The Christiansburg Town Council voted to table the proposed food‑truck ordinance so staff could continue review and work on the proposal. A council member moved to table the item and the motion passed on a roll-call vote of 6-0.
Resident Laura Dobbins of 200 Allegheny told the council she supports allowing food trucks downtown and said she wants a more walkable city. "We need more diverse places to eat, to socialize, and we need the ability to have a vibrant downtown," Dobbins said. She also raised safety concerns about Newcomb Street, noting there is no shoulder or sidewalk and that slowing traffic alone "is not going to be enough."
Council members and staff signaled they want more time to review the ordinance and its potential impacts on existing restaurants and pedestrian safety; the formal tabling gives staff additional time for analysis and possible revisions before the council takes further action.
