During public comment residents raised two recurring concerns: noise from nearby private venues and transparency/privacy around house plans on file with the town.
Joel McGregor commended the council for resisting subsidy of water rates and urged caution on any Ponder partnership, warning that nuisance rules should not penalize longstanding businesses or venues that predate nearby housing. "Creating regulations that will basically put him out of business, we shouldn't be that shouldn't be our job," McGregor said about an Adventure Park in the ETJ.
Matt Cloud, a recent arrival to town, said a truckyard-turned-concert venue near his home shakes windows and prevents his children from sleeping; he described repeated, unsuccessful attempts to get voluntary compliance from the venue and asked council for stronger remedies. "My kids go to bed at 8, and it's pretty hard to get your child to fall asleep when the window is shaking in their room," Cloud said.
Rena Hardiman urged greater transparency: she asked that staff include all briefing slides and presentation materials in the council packet so residents can review materials in advance, and raised concerns that house plans filed with the development department are publicly viewable and could affect assessments and privacy.
Detective Daniel Martinez, speaking for the North Lake Police Association, thanked the chief and staff for recruitment and support and said the association hopes to continue productive collaboration as the town grows.
