Caldwell County approves stream-restoration, airport and drug-court grants on consent agenda

County Manager Shane Fox said the health department will roll over $35,184 in community-care funds from last year with no local match required. The board approved acceptance of a $28,000 Duke Energy grant to fund a site-development trial at Foothills Regional Airport; Fox said that grant requires no local match. He also reported an additional $740,000 applied to stream-restoration projects, bringing total funding for stream restoration to $2,200,000; no local match was required for that allocation. The board approved applications to seek a $700,000 utility-account grant for the airport sewer project and a possible ARC grant of $688,500 for the Lower Cedar Valley project. The board also accepted a $200,000 grant to support the county drug-court program over two years.
Other consent items included authorization to surplus four county vehicles, annual library agreement participation, and appointments to the board of health and the Department of Social Services advisory roster. The consent agenda passed by voice vote.
