At the start of the Nov. 14 meeting the council recognized a slate of new hires in the Northlake Police Department and a civilian police support specialist.
Chief Crawford introduced officers including Sergeant Cody Lineweber (has 16 years' service and is a police instructor), Sergeant Steve Shepherd (over 31 years of experience and a master peace officer license), Officer Corey Rollins (joined June 2024 after serving as a police cadet), Officer Jonathan Wimberley (joined August 2024 with nine prior years of service) and others. The chief said one civilian hire, Joey Alvarez, will serve as police support specialist and oversee fleet and property and evidence functions. The chief told council the department had two separations last year and with the new hires expected to be at full staff soon.
"If you wanna meet the more most positive guy in the world, this is him right here," Chief Crawford said introducing Officer Corey Rollins, noting the officers' training, licenses and, in some cases, prior military service and advanced degrees.
Mayor Montini and council members thanked the department for recruitment work and invited the new employees forward for photographs. The council did not take action on staffing at this meeting beyond recognition; the chief said staff has extended two job offers and expects to have only one vacancy remaining in the near term.
