Selectboard advances East Shore Better Roads RFP, hears fiber-optic schedule and sets budget meeting

At the Jan. 7 meeting Pat Treckman reported that the RFP for the East Shore Better Roads grant is nearly ready and requested approval to submit it; the board directed Selectboard Assistant Donna Bohannon to continue finalizing the RFP with Treckman with a goal of publishing in the Islander and on the town website the week of Jan. 12, 2026. Treckman also recommended staggering two other RFPs to reduce confusion for bidders.
On broadband, Donna Bohannon relayed a question from Anne Jopin-Picard about fiber-optic availability. Cary Sandvig said the fiber project is on schedule and — because it is grant-funded — must be completed by the end of 2026; he said mailings offering service to the public would go out soon. The board scheduled its next budget meeting for Jan. 14, 2026 to continue work on project cost estimates and other budget items.
