At its Oct. 24, 2024 meeting the Village of Lazy Lake council appointed Ray Nyhuis to serve as mayor until the March 2026 election after the council president resigned his presidency to be considered for the position. The council also unanimously appointed Dana Merrill to fill the vacancy left by Mark DiPaolo’s earlier resignation and appointed Amold Aliff to fill the council seat vacated when Nyhuis moved to the mayor’s office.
The minutes record that Mark DiPaolo’s resignation was effective Sept. 9, 2024, and that Mayor Carlton Kirby announced his resignation effective Sept. 30, 2024. The Village Administrator was instructed to post vacancy notices and email registered residents; responses were received from Dana Merrill, Amold Aliff, and Elizabeth Abrahams. Each appointment at the Oct. 24 meeting was carried by unanimous council vote; the minutes state the appointments run through the March 2026 election.
