Summary
Resident and contractor John Yaratz raised concerns about winter plowing standards and expressed interest in bidding on town projects; the board asked staff to contact the contractor and encouraged Yaratz to submit quotes. Contractor and resident John Yaratz told the Selectboard he is concerned about spending on road maintenance and the quality and timing of winter plowing, saying the current contractor 'isn't plowing when and how the roads need to be plowed' and urging them to 'do better.' Chair Peter Brzozowy acknowledged the concerns and said the board will contact the current contractor. Yaratz was encouraged to submit a bid for future projects, including stump-dump cleanup.
Road Commissioner Robin Gutierrez suggested asking DJ's Tree Service to provide an estimate to remove brush and stumps from the stump dump; Yaratz said he would also like to submit a quote. Robin will forward a list of trees near powerlines to the Selectboard assistant so the power company can be notified for hazard removal.
On signage, Selectboard Chair Peter Brzozowy relayed a message from Sylvia Jensen about a replacement island-entry sign estimated at $5,150 with a $3,000 donation from the Masons and $425 for the planter; the board did not determine where that cost would be allocated in the 2026 budget at the meeting.
