Selectboard advances RFPs for East Shore and other road projects; road commissioner warns stabilization needed before work

Pat Treckman reported the Better Roads Grant RFP for work on East Shore has been finalized and advertised and that at least one bid packet has been distributed. Cary Sandvig and Joe Deller said they will meet with Road Commissioner Robin Gutierrez to finalize ditching and Grants in Aid details so remaining RFPs can be advertised in February.
Road Commissioner Robin Gutierrez told the board that scheduled East Shore work should be preceded by bank stabilization and a test hole to confirm subsurface conditions; she warned that without preliminary stabilization the repaired section could fail due to an unstable foundation similar to a prior problem further north in 2025. The board agreed the testing and stabilization details need to be worked out before construction.
No contract awards on these RFPs were made at the meeting; members expect to post additional bid documents in February once details are finalized.
