Mayor Ray Nyhuis presented a plan to install advertising panels along the Andrews Avenue fence line at the Village of Lazy Lake’s Nov. 6 meeting. The concept would allow up to 26 panels, each 4 feet by 8 feet. Proposed rates were $100 to $125 per month per panel or $1,000 annually if an advertiser prepaid for a year. Advertisers would supply banners at their own cost and banners would be subject to Village approval; the proposal would exclude ads for alcohol, sexual content and marijuana.
Council members expressed reservations about the potential visual impact and a “tacky” appearance, and raised traffic safety and procurement concerns. Council requested staff research how similar programs are administered, identify potential vendors, and prepare procurement options and a draft agreement for Council review before any program decision.
No procurement contract or vendor was selected at the meeting. The proposal remains at the research stage pending Council review of draft agreement terms.
