Town office repairs continue; contractor to assess bathroom sheetrock and heating contractor recommends eventual boiler replacement

Chair Peter Brzozowy updated the Selectboard that the community room floor replacement is complete and plumbers have completed as much work as possible pending sheetrock installation in the bathrooms. A local contractor will inspect the site on Jan. 22 to determine whether the bathroom sheetrock can be installed before town meeting so plumbers can finish installing sinks and toilets.

Peter said the sink offered by the plumbing contractor would not work (it was an L-shaped unit) and that the contractor will continue to search for an affordable replacement. Members discussed repair and replacement options for the aging boiler. C.S.I., the town's heating contractor, reported that because of the boiler's age it will eventually need replacement; it advised the board to consider converting from oil to propane as a more efficient option. The board agreed to consider adding potential conversion or replacement costs to the 2026 budget and to investigate grants or rebates that might offset expense.

Selectboard member Mary-Catherine Graziano suggested exploring grant opportunities and Karen Brunner (representing C.S.I.) confirmed the company has applied rebates to past work and has serviced the heating system since the building's construction. No final decision on boiler replacement or fuel conversion was made at the meeting.
