Council voted to approve a contract change order to increase the southwest pressure plane's water capacity to serve the town's commercial and industrial area near the speedway.
Staff reported the work will raise capacity from approximately 1.63 million gallons per day to 3.63 million gallons per day and that the overall project cost is about $15 million; the additional work represents an estimated 20% increase in project costs. Staff said part of the cost will be covered by a 55/45 funding split (town pays 55%), with the added capacity intended to support the town's objective of increasing commercial land use. Council approved the action unanimously.
Staff noted the project required repeated submittals with utility and plan‑set revisions and that their consultants are working to complete final design and construction documents. The council directed staff to continue overseeing the second phase of the first phase to ensure timely implementation.
