Staff said three projects have entered the planning phase: Fort Worth capacity phase 2 to add wholesale capacity, a Northwest elevated water tower (1.5 MGD) to add storage and resiliency, and the Pecan Square wastewater interceptor to tie the site into the regional Justin–Northlake gravity system. The presenter noted the Star Center infrastructure work is underway with mass grading and underground utility installation; he cited a construction cost estimate in the $47.2 million range and a completion window for infrastructure as the end of 2025/early 2026.
On the water side, staff described a $6.2 million project northwest of the Texas Motor Speedway (near FM 156) for an elevated storage tank and said advertisement for bids was targeted for January–February with award the following month. For sewer, a branch sewer line project northwest of the motor speedway was discussed with an estimated cost near $8 million and an October 2025 target for completion. Staff also described coordination with regional partners (TRA, City of Fort Worth) on capacity and metering stations.
Councilors asked about schedule shifts and coordination with Denton County bond-funded roadway work; staff emphasized that water-line work generally precedes road surfacing to minimize rework. The update listed recently completed work: a ground storage tank, pump upgrades, and Catherine Branch public infrastructure improvements. Staff said details and project maps will continue to be shared as bid and construction activity progresses.
