County backs broadband grant bids, signs Pictometry and 911-mapping contracts

Nemaha County commissioners consistently reviewed and approved actions supporting broadband expansion, geospatial mapping and 911 improvements.
The board signed letters of support for Windstream and Kinetic broadband grant applications for the City of Peru and Brownville in March. It approved multiple ROW applications for telecom vendors (Windstream, Viaero, Charter, Spectrum and OPPD ROWs located across county roads) to permit cable and fiber construction.
For mapping and 911 the board authorized a GeoComm mapping contract early in the year and later signed a Pictometry International Corp contract for imagery and parcel-mapping services at $34,814.25. The county also approved a Sidwell contract for election-map creation at $5,140.
Those approvals reflect coordinated investments in the county’s geographic data and public-safety infrastructure.
