Following a public hearing the Nemaha County Board of Commissioners adopted the FY2023–24 budget and set the tax rate for the year.
At a special hearing on Sept. 27 the board adopted Resolution #2022-19 (adopt budget FY 2023–24) and Resolution #2023-20 setting the final tax request at $0.309372 per $100 of assessed valuation. The board also approved Resolution #2023-18 allowing the budget’s base limitation to increase by 3.5% as permitted under state law.
Commissioners discussed distress-warrant lists and granted the treasurer authority to issue county tax-sale certificates for delinquent taxes not purchased at the public tax sale. The minutes record the adoption of the budget and voting tallies for each resolution.
