Nemaha County’s courthouse drainage and building-repair projects were a recurring agenda item in 2023 as the board reviewed change orders, insurance settlements and final payments.
In April the board approved Change Order Number 002 for the Nemaha County Courthouse drainage project adding $44,876.00 to the AHRS Construction contract. Commissioners later authorized final payment to AHRS (the minutes record a final payment of $18,135.64 in September).
Separately, the county solicited sealed bids for hail-damage roof repairs on the courthouse, Health & Human Services building and Wellness Center; the board awarded Strong 1 LLC the contract for $194,000. The county also worked with NIRMA (its insurer) on settlement agreements covering the hail damage.
The board approved additional building-related work through the year—sidewalk and yard repair estimates, Wellness Center window replacements and contractual arrangements for dehumidification and foundation remediation equipment (Renodry USA). These actions were recorded in the official minutes and reflected in claims and change-order approvals.
