Council appoints Kelly Packard and Dillian Williams to Westfir budget committee

Council moved to consider two citizen applicants for the budget committee and members discussed whether the candidates could also serve on the planning commission. A motion to appoint Kelly Packard and Dillian Williams to three-year terms on the budget committee was made, seconded and approved.
The council clarified tonight’s action covered only the budget committee seats; planning commission membership remains under review because councilors are currently serving as planning commissioners and local practice and codes differ on whether councilors may also be voting members of a planning body. Council asked staff to research whether the planning commission must be a distinct, independent body.
