Mayor read Resolution No. 2026-17, authorizing submission of a New Mexico Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to the Department of Finance and Administration, Infrastructure, Planning and Development Division. A staff representative explained the city would submit two CDBG applications this year — one standard and one disaster-related — and said the resolution authorizes the mayor to sign the application documents.
Councilors praised the staff’s work identifying the funding source; one councilor said previous attempts were affected by audits and that this application uses a different approach. Staff clarified the proposed project would include road, drainage and new water line work and that the proposed width for the roadway portion is 24 feet. Councilors discussed that the application does not require a local match for this submission.
The council proceeded with the resolution process during the meeting.
