The Town of New Haven Planning Commission voted unanimously June 8, 2026 to approve the final draft of the town’s Enhanced Energy Plan addendum and to forward the document to the Selectboard for consideration and a public hearing. Rob Litch opened the public hearing at 7:05 p.m., saying, "The purpose of the hearing is to adopt the Town of New Haven’s Enhanced Energy Plan addendum to the Town Plan in accordance with 24 V.S.A. Chapter 117."
Commissioners moved and approved the action with Maggie Eaton making the motion and Britany Cyr seconding; the roll call recorded three in favor (M. Eaton, R. Litch, B. Cyr) and none opposed. The public hearing record notes that no members of the public were in attendance. The minutes record the public hearing closed at 7:25 p.m. and the full plan text is available on the town website and in hard copy on request.
The commission’s formal vote sends the plan to the Selectboard, which will hold its own consideration and a public hearing before any change to the Town Plan takes effect under state statute. The action aligns the Planning Commission’s recommended addendum with the statutory process set out in 24 V.S.A. Chapter 117. The meeting later adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
