The Town of New Haven Planning Commission reviewed a third draft of the Town Energy Plan on April 13, focusing on technical map errors and how the plan should identify preferred locations for renewable projects. ACRPC Energy Planner Jolyon Larson asked the commission to review design standards in the appendix and an Energy Project Approval Guide; commissioners raised multiple mapping issues including missing or noncontiguous three‑phase/transmission line layers and habitat-map alignment.
Commission members recommended narrowing designated preferred sites to rooftop and canopy solar, noting New Haven is ahead of its renewable generation targets. Rob Litch suggested the plan’s introduction explicitly cite the town’s achievement in exceeding renewable-generation goals and asked that small, roof‑mounted solar be exempt from review to encourage rooftop installations. Jolyon Larson said he will consult with ACRPC GIS Manager Hannah Andrew to correct the maps; the deadline for additional comments is Monday, April 27, and final review of the third draft is scheduled for the Planning Commission meeting on May 11, when a public hearing date will be set.
