At the public‑comment portion of the meeting, a community speaker told the board that budget reductions have forced difficult choices but urged the board to value the relationships and consistency that support student success. The speaker said "effective schools are not built only by credentials, but by people who are willing to invest in children, families, and the community they serve." Another parent, identified by the chair as Daisy Devos, said the cuts will be felt most by students and noted the packet indicated district enrollment has decreased "by approximately 70 students in the past year." Parents asked the board to examine why families are leaving the district and to explore restoring positions that directly support students.
Mandy Simonson, who identified herself while speaking, appealed directly to the board to reconsider a personnel decision involving a teacher referred to in public comment. Simonson said that teacher "has made a huge impact on my daughter's life" and asked the board to reconsider the decision to let the teacher go.
Board members directed that personnel complaints about individual employees follow board policy KL and state procedures; the chair reminded speakers that the public‑comment portion is for district operation and programs and not for personal staff grievances during that forum.
