Nemaha County reorganizes leadership, confirms surveyor and highway appointments

The Nemaha County Board of Commissioners began 2022 by electing its leadership and approving several standing appointments and resolutions. County Clerk Diane Johnson called the Jan. 5 reorganization to order; commissioners elected Bryan Mellage chairman and Mike Hall vice chairman and approved the agenda and the Dec. 23, 2021 minutes. The board also adopted Resolution 2022-1 setting county official salaries for the 2023–2026 term and, by roll-call vote, adopted Resolution 2022-2 declaring the Dec. 15, 2021 derecho a disaster or state of emergency.
The board completed a round of appointments that set administrative roles for the year. The board appointed Tom Catlett as Nemaha County surveyor and approved Mark Mainelli of Mainelli Wagner & Associates to perform the county’s highway superintendent duties for 2022. Those motions passed unanimously. The meeting record shows routine approvals of claims and payroll totals, and commissioners noted that county agendas and minutes are posted on the Nemaha County website for public inspection. The clerk’s minutes certify the votes and preserve the formal motions as part of the county record.
