The Select Board discussed how to warn a proposed, non-binding Declaration of Inclusion. Faith Tempest said VLCT guidance allows flexibility in how such a declaration is warned and suggested circulating the full text in advance via the newsflash and Chit Chat. Mark Turco proposed including the full declaration in the warning.
Diana Garrow opposed including the full text, saying the entity’s recommendations read as onerous steps that would be difficult to implement. Stephen Michel responded that the recommendations are voluntary and not binding. The board did not take a final vote on the wording and left the matter for further consideration and outreach.
