Select Board says resident’s wedding fireworks are acceptable pending weather and permit

Fire Chief Billy Austin said his principal concern was the current dry weather and drought conditions that could require cancellation for safety; Sherman acknowledged that a weather-related cancellation might be necessary. Select Board members asked the organizers to provide permit paperwork and, as a courtesy, Jeff Chase requested that the display conclude by 10 p.m. rather than begin at 10 p.m. The board indicated it was content with the proposal subject to weather, the permit and any applicable restrictions.
No formal motion was recorded to deny or approve a permit; the board confirmed it had no substantive objection while leaving final confirmation to the permitting process and fire-safety considerations.
