PTG proposes Star Lake Winter Fest; Select Board asks for a safety plan

Andrea Auld presented a proposal from the Mount Holly PTG for a community Winter Fest at Star Lake on either Feb. 20 or Feb. 22, featuring skating and a sledding hill that could be created if the road crew helps with snow management. Auld acknowledged the need for a safety barrier to Belmont Road but said the group had not finalized a design.
Board members suggested hay bales as one possible barrier; Jeff Chase cautioned that creating a sledding hill could be difficult. Mark Turco told Auld the board had no objection at this stage and asked the PTG to return with more specific plans at the next meeting so the board could review safety measures and any required permissions.
The board did not take a formal vote; the item will return for further detail and possible approval once organizers supply a written safety plan and any permit requests.
