Summary
The Mount Holly Select Board approved an FY27 budget that would raise $1,400,640 by property tax (an 11.46% increase) and will present the plan for the Town vote; officials said using prior surplus reduced what would otherwise have been nearly a 20% rise.

The Mount Holly Select Board on Jan. 13 approved a FY27 budget that calls for $1,400,640 to be raised by property tax, an 11.46% increase over the current year. Town Treasurer Elizabeth Karle reported improved delinquent tax collections and a steady cash balance but said winter highway costs and higher material and labor prices contributed to the increase.
Mark Turco moved to approve the budget; Diana Garrow seconded and the board approved the measure unanimously. Karle told the board that increased use of last year’s surplus limited the tax increase, noting the alternative would have been “almost 20%” without that buy-down. The board will warn the budget for approval at the Town meeting.
The treasurer also said state paving grant reimbursements remain outstanding and will affect cash flow timing. The board’s formal motion and unanimous approval were recorded; the budget now proceeds to the voter warning and Town meeting process.
