Council adopts resolutions setting utility connection fees and consolidating charges

The council considered several utility items under new business. Chair (S1) introduced first readings of Ordinances 375 and 376, related to municipal utilities and the municipal natural gas utility system; the council then considered Resolution 2026‑11 to establish connection fees for water and sewer.
Council member (S2) said the fee adjustments reflect a 5% increase over previously adopted fees and that placing the amounts in resolution form provides an auditable record. “They're essentially the 5% increase for the fees that were adopted… so just getting it in place,” Council member (S2) said. The council moved to adopt Resolution 2026‑11 and approved it on a roll call.
The council subsequently approved Resolution 2026‑12 to authorize a depreciation reserve within the natural gas fund and Resolution 2026‑13 to adopt a natural gas base charge and consolidate previously disparate fee resolutions into a single record. All three resolutions were approved by roll‑call votes during the meeting.
