County to let insurer/scrapyard handle totaled water truck after adjuster advises against buyback

Sean Hughes told the commission the insurance adjuster advised against buying back a damaged county water truck. "The tank is cracked in spots and...the engine could be damaged," Hughes said, and he recommended letting the carrier or a scrapyard gather the truck instead of the county repurchasing and reselling it.
Commissioners noted ranchers had expressed interest in purchasing the truck, but most agreed the county should not repurchase and manage resale. Hughes said if proceeds from the insurer arrive he would consider replacing a truck in fall or winter when prices might be lower.
