Lane County to review $29,000 quote for Lowell covered-bridge gate; bridge opened to staff for testing

City Administrator Max Baker told the council that Overhead Door supplied a repair quote that would require removing the entire covered-bridge gate and that the company also offered a full gate assembly priced at $29,000, which is lower than a 2019 quote. Because the sum exceeds Lowell’s sole-source procurement limits, Lane County is reviewing the proposal.
Baker said the bridge is being opened and closed only Monday through Friday by public-works staff so its operations can be thoroughly tested before volunteers resume control. He also confirmed the city will host the Christmas tree-lighting event at the Covered Bridge this year and plans to harvest the tree from the National Forest.
