City Administrator Max Baker told the Council that Library Director Peggy seeks approval to apply for a $5,000 grant from the Oregon Arts Commission. Baker said the grant requires matching funds but that the match could come from administrative time, use of library space, advertising and supplies rather than a cash match. The project would bring a hands-on, professional artist to work with 10 community members on projects to be advertised in the Bridge newsletter.
Baker cautioned that all grants create additional reporting and record-keeping demands for the library, contract accountant and City Administrator, but that Councilors expressed general consensus in support of applying for the grant. No formal vote was required to seek the grant; staff will proceed with the application if directed.
