Director reports delayed canal water service, pond repairs and cemetery fee study

Community Services Director Eric Howes updated the commission on water and cemetery matters that affect parks and facilities.
Howes said canal water service is delayed until May 1 because low snowfall has limited supply; he also said Steed Pond water levels are expected to remain low and the Mabey Pond well is down and under repair. On cemetery management, Howes reported limited availability of plots and described proposed updates to fee structures covering interment and residency considerations; staff are exploring additional space and separation of the maintenance yard.
Howes noted a study of the Impact Fee Facilities Plan is underway to evaluate allowable uses and future projects and is expected to conclude in six to eight months. No formal policy change or vote occurred during the March 18 meeting.
