Canal Trail grant secured; bicentennial park and Steed Park projects move forward

Howes said the Canal Trail grant has been secured and listed projects including a Canal Trail connection (300 N to 200 S), Bicentennial Park improvements with a Utah Jazz grant-funded basketball court, new restroom facilities, hillside slide/activity areas, Thornock Park pads scheduled for installation, and Steed Park parking expansion funded by PARAT. Staff also described a planned floating dock for Steed Pond. The presentations noted budget constraints and an emphasis on seeking grants and external funding.
Deputy Director Curtis Dickson added that elevators are completed and operational and an all-abilities playground is in design. Staff emphasized grant-seeking to make several projects feasible within constrained budgets.
