County approves emergency-service agreements and grant authorizations

Throughout 2020 Nemaha County signed agreements to participate in regional emergency-notification and protective-custody services, authorized grant signatures for the sheriff, and executed agreements with Region V and neighboring counties for emergency notification and juvenile-services planning.
Across multiple meetings in 2020 the Nemaha County Board approved cooperative agreements and authorized signatures for grants and emergency services. Notable items include a memorandum of agreement to join a Southeast Nebraska Emergency Notification System in coordination with Otoe and Richardson counties; an agreement with Region V Systems to provide emergency protective custody services and an interlocal Four-County Juvenile Services Plan with Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee and Richardson counties.
Commissioners also authorized the chair to sign grant documents for the sheriff’s office and accepted a Region V agreement for emergency protective custody services. These interlocal collaborations expand shared services and mutual-aid capabilities, and the board recorded motions and roll-call votes for multiple agreements.
