Board briefed on proposed three-district boys swimming cooperative

At the meeting a staff member identified in the transcript as Zach outlined a proposed expansion of the boys swimming cooperative to include Upsala with Melrose and Sauk Centre. "What that would look like is we would take the cooperative that we have right now of Sock Centre and Melrose, and it would dissolve, and then we'd create a new one with all 3 of them," Zach said, explaining the cooperative structure and noting there would be no financial cost to the Melrose district for the change.
Zach said the Minnesota State High School League requires approvals and each district's board will need to approve the change. He said Sauk Centre will consider the item next month and Melrose will bring the cooperative agreement back to the board for action in August. Board members asked whether cooperative membership is limited by zone and how student eligibility would be handled; Zach said the districts currently in the cooperative must agree before a new district can join.
