Nemaha County Board elects leadership, approves claims and appointments

The Nemaha County Board of Commissioners convened Jan. 8, 2020, with Commissioners Bryan Mellage, Mike Hall and Larry Holtzman present and Diane Johnson, county clerk, recording the minutes. By roll call vote the board elected Commissioner Bryan Mellage as chairman for 2020 and Commissioner Mike Hall as vice chairman.
The board approved the agenda and the Dec. 23, 2019 minutes without correction; it also approved accounts-payable claims and a $5,111.56 maintenance claim to Mellage Truck & Tractor. The board appointed Tom Catlett as Nemaha County surveyor for 2020 and adopted two subdivision resolutions: Resolution 2020-01 (Ratliff) and Resolution 2020-02 (Winkelman).
Motions were recorded in roll-call form: the chair nomination and subsequent vote were recorded as Mellage aye; Holtzman aye; Hall aye. These routine organizational actions set the year’s leadership and authorized routine county business to proceed. The next regular meeting was scheduled for Jan. 22, 2020.
