"I am doctor Lawanda Baskin, and I am a nurse practitioner by trade," Baskin said, adding that she has already contributed to board work and is grateful for the opportunity to serve. A senator identified in the transcript as "the senator filling gain" moved that the committee advise and consent to her appointment; the chair called a voice vote and recorded that the ayes have it, approving the nomination.
Baskin urged continued legislative support for the nursing board's initiatives; the committee then moved on to consider other nominees and peer committee reports.
