The district presented findings from a national family/staff/student survey covering engagement, relationships, communication and school safety.
Speaker S1 summarized the instruments and response rates: "For the elementary school, we had 59 parents respond. That represents 19%. The average is 13%, so, really a decent pool." S1 explained results are presented as percentiles against ESD peers and as 1–5 scale averages. The elementary family engagement percentile rose to the 21st percentile from the 14th percentile last year.
Board members and staff discussed next steps for communicating findings to families, for using student comments (free-text entries) to guide culture-building work and for supporting student-led projects to improve school climate. Administrators said they will develop communication plans to share what the district learned and proposed action steps.
