House reads resolution honoring Mississippi Forestry Commission's 100th anniversary; agency highlights wildfire acreage and economic scale

Chairman of Forestry introduced the resolution and asked Russell Bozeman of the Forestry Commission to step forward. Bozeman thanked lawmakers and described the industry's scale: "It's a $15,000,000,000 industry. We've already had 30,000 acres of wildfire this year. We appreciate your support," he said. The floor recognized the contribution of the agency and applauded the commission and invited guests.
The resolution text cited Mississippi's approximately 19,000,000 acres of forest land and the Forestry Commission's roles: wildfire response, forest-health monitoring, sustainable-management assistance, landowner outreach and forestry education programs.
