House clears local-and-private calendar: DeSoto opt-out of 'Grama Stoppers' program; Ackerman OKs 2% restaurant tax

Jim then called up House Bill 41 70 (a committee substitute extending the repealer on Raleigh's restaurant tax) and House Bill 41 71 for Ackerman. On HB 41 71 Jim explained: "This is a new tax for the town of Ackerman. They're requesting a 2%, restaurant tax for their tourism and parks and rec. It does have referendum language in there and a 4 year repealer." The Ackerman bill passed by recorded vote 112 yays, 2 nays.
Clerks recorded the votes and the House granted immediate release on several local items following the passage. The local-and-private calendar advanced several municipal tax and opt-out measures for counties and small towns.
