Board approves interim workforce development coordinator; classes resume Aug. 17

The board approved a contract to hire Lakisha (Lakisha Rogers/Davis in packet) as interim workforce development coordinator to maintain continuity after the previous coordinator left for county service. Alderman Hall said the hire would preserve a grant that closes June 30 (extension and continuity were discussed) and that the contract was effective July 28 through the grant period ending April 30, 2027.
Lakisha Davis told the board how the program will be structured; she said students will begin in core construction basics with trades including carpentry, electrical, masonry, heavy equipment operation and plumbing. “Contact me, Lakisha Davis. The board and allied partners (Adams County Board of Supervisors and the Natchez‑Adams County School District) expressed support. City staff said they would advertise and support registration to fill remaining seats for the August 17 start date.
