UNO Basin Healthcare gives 90-day notice; Ashley Valley Regional submits proposal for county clinic space

Staff read a formal 90-day notice letter from UNO Basin Healthcare (dated 06/26/2026) stating the provider will decline participation in the county’s upcoming RFP process and will conclude clinic, laboratory, pharmacy, and radiology services at the county facility on or after Oct. 2 unless a transition occurs sooner. The letter, provided to the record, said the provider would give affected patients 60 days’ notice of service changes and was willing to extend operations if a successor could not begin before Oct. 2.
Commissioners confirmed they received a proposal from Ashley Valley Regional (hospital system) in response to the county’s RFQ/RFP and scheduled a closed session at 1:30 p.m. for negotiation of contract terms; staff also requested an additional closed session to discuss the character or professional competence of an employee. The board directed staff to coordinate meetings with Ashley Valley Regional representatives and to proceed with the scheduled closed sessions for contract and personnel discussions.
The county did not take a public contract award at the meeting; instead commissioners scheduled closed-session negotiations with Ashley Valley Regional and asked staff to pursue transition planning to maintain clinic services for residents during the provider change.
