Resident urges county to keep rodeo horses off park sidewalks after fresh‑concrete damage

A resident told the Daggett County Commission that junior rodeo participants rode horses through the county park last weekend, leaving manure on sidewalks and over a recently poured ADA concrete pad.

"I would like you to just look at these pictures, please," the resident said while presenting photos, adding that "there's manure all over the cement, around the restrooms." The resident urged the commission to require the rodeo to stage horse trainers across the street to avoid damage and repeated cleanups, noting county crews lack time to keep redoing the area before the next weekend's events.

Commission members and other participants acknowledged competing uses of the park and safety concerns for children. One participant said sprinklers and a gate had been broken by horses and pointed to posted signs that prohibit horses in the park. The chair said staff would "figure it out" and examine what policies or practical measures could prevent future impacts.

Speakers offered short-term ideas including assigning staff or volunteers to direct visitors and asking event operators to use a different parking area. The exchange did not produce a formal directive or vote; commissioners said they would explore whether existing vendor or event contracts could require staging and cleanup or whether an ordinance governs enforcement.

The matter remains under discussion; commissioners asked staff to follow up and confirm whether contract language, signage enforcement, or other operational changes could be required before the county spends CPR grant funds to reseal the affected parking lot.
