Planning commission fills subcommittee vacancies, approves rosters

The Rancho Palos Verdes Planning Commission on July 28 approved appointments to its standing and ad hoc subcommittees after a staff presentation detailing vacancies and legal considerations.
"Staff recommends that the planning commission appoint planning commissioners to serve on the various committees and subcommittees," Senior Planner Jessica Bobbitt told the commission during her presentation. Commissioners then volunteered for and were placed on committees covering the zoning code update, housing element, arterial fence and wall master plan, safety element update, open space and conservation element, wireless code update, and a newly formed guidelines subcommittee.
Chair Knowlman moved to "fill the vacancies rosters for the subcommittees as noted by the director," and Vice Chair George seconded the motion. The commission recorded affirmative votes from Commissioner Kristen, Commissioner Crossman, Commissioner D'Souza, Commissioner Malolepcha, Vice Chair George and Chair Knowlman; Commissioner O'Connor was absent. The motion carried and the rosters were finalized as presented.
Commissioners and staff said the appointments are intended to keep work moving on several projects—most immediately a zoning-related ADU ordinance revision and a draft arterial fence and wall master plan—while preserving continuity on committees with ongoing work. The appointments set who will represent the commission in subcommittee meetings and provide input to staff and, as needed, City Council.
