Coach evaluation changes prompt public concern; board to revisit policy language

During public comment, Stacy Neathie urged the Warrenton-Hammond SD 30 board to delay proposed changes to the coaching hiring and evaluation policy and to solicit more community input before adoption.
"I'm just here to ask... hold off on it because I feel like, if you're gonna make that kind of change, there needs to be a better process of due diligence and research and evaluation of what is currently in place instead of reinventing the wheel," Neathie said. She warned that vague terms such as "fair" would be difficult to implement without concrete expectations and recommended restoring a robust evaluation process that previously included students and coaching staff.
Board members acknowledged the concerns, discussed routing edits through the superintendent and staff, and asked for clearer draft language prior to the May first reading. The board agreed staff would rework the draft and, if needed, schedule an additional work session before the reading.
