Board members agreed evaluations must be timely and produce written documentation for personnel files. One Committee member summarized the purpose: "The purpose of the coaching evaluation is to improve coaching effectiveness, ensure alignment with district values, support professional growth, and inform retention and assignment decisions."
After debate on reasonable timing, members recommended a two-step timing: the evaluation process should be completed within 30 days of season end and the outcome communicated to the coach within seven days. Several members argued for a short window for notification so coaches have time to plan for summer programs and recruiting.
The board also discussed whether to require more than one evaluation per season; they settled on at least one formal post-season evaluation, with the athletic director and committee able to conduct additional check-ins as needed.
