Superintendent Tripp Goodell told the board that the district’s contracts require a public resolution when a possible reduction in force exists and that the resolution is intended to alert the public and begin any required procedural steps. "When there's the possibility of reduction in force, a resolution has to go in front of the board before that can take place," he said.
Board members asked about timelines and which staff categories might be affected. Goodell said the district will follow bargained‑contract provisions, including seniority lists and association processes. He said staff will pursue attrition, reassignment within programs and other options first. The superintendent also said association leadership would receive relevant documentation immediately after the board’s vote.
Mark Johnson moved the motion and Adam Murray seconded. The motion passed unanimously; the board did not identify specific positions or counts in open session.
