County holds public hearing on 2026–2030 CDBG Consolidated Plan; $1.1M annual allocation discussed

Robert Myers explained that St. Charles County is the lead entity for the St. Charles Urban County recognized by HUD and that the Community Development Block Grant program typically provides approximately $1.1 million annually. Myers said current public services funding is focused on neighborhood stabilization and transportation services and requested community input on priorities for the five-year plan.
Samara Mitchell, Executive Director of Community Council St. Charles County, described coordinated services that help families secure permanent housing and said demand for services is growing while resources have not kept pace. "We help hundreds of families each year secure permanent housing through a coordinated effort with non-profits, schools, churches, health care providers, municipalities and government agencies," Mitchell said.
The public hearing closed with no immediate action; staff will compile community input for the Consolidated Plan and the 2026 Annual Action Plan.
