Board adopts tentative millage; total levy presented at 6.0540 mills

The Lake County School Board approved a resolution on Monday determining the district's tentative millage rates for fiscal year 2026–27 after Superintendent Carnegie presented the figures and explained the rollback-rate calculation.
"The total millage to be levied is greater than the rollback rate by 3.6%," Superintendent Carnegie said, and described the levy components as a required local effort millage of 3.560 mills, discretionary millage of 0.748 mills, capital outlay millage of 1.5 mills, and an additional voted millage of 0.75 mills for a combined total presented as 6.0540 mills. Carnegie also read projected revenue line items for general operating and capital outlay.
Chair Mathias moved to adopt Resolution 2026-03 and a colleague seconded the motion. The board opened the public hearing on the tentative millage rates and recorded that no members of the public wished to speak; the board then approved the resolution by voice vote.
