District says Paredes reassignment will not increase net spending; trustees press rescore and cost questions

Superintendent Segura told trustees the administration expects the proposed reassignment of Paredes students will not raise net district expenditures once offsets and stipend structures are accounted for. "We do expect to actually have a net savings as far as overall cost," Segura said, while acknowledging details remain under development.
Trustees asked about state rescoring costs and who pays them. District staff said rescore vendors charge per test and that the district incurred rescore work last year; a staff member estimated rescore-related expense could be roughly $300,000, with some of that amount offset if rescored students shift accountability thresholds. "It might be about 300,000," one staff member said when asked for a ballpark figure regarding rescoring costs.
Administration said they would provide more detailed budget breakdowns ahead of the July 30 vote, including stipend amounts for receiving campuses, offsets from closure-related budget reductions, and any expected transportation or one-time transition costs.
