Burlington council appoints Brian Steen to Ward 6 in 3–2 vote

Earlier in the meeting a separate motion to appoint Katherine Johnson failed on a 2–3 vote with Councilors Joe DeGloria, Scott Green and James Stavig recorded as opposing. The meeting minutes note the first vote as "Motion failed; 2:3." Mayor Bill Aslett thanked all candidates for participating in the selection process.
The appointments followed interviews conducted during a 6:00 p.m. work session. The council added the appointment to the regular agenda by unanimous motion prior to considering the consent agenda. The council record shows the successful motion read as a direct authorization to fill the Ward 6 seat effective at the next meeting.
