Multiple members suggested bolding critical figures (for example, the reduction of "30 teaching positions" and the elimination of six teaching positions in a scenario) so respondents notice them without having to read dense paragraphs.
Staff flagged a tradeoff: lowering reading level often increases length. "If we can get it lower," one member said, "that's going to improve the data that we do get back." The board agreed to include a QR code linking to a populated website with supplemental definitions and cost breakdowns so the pulse-question survey remains concise while allowing interested respondents to access more context.
The board asked staff to provide examples of alternative option wording and to return with an edited four-page version preferred by staff and the facilitator. Final wording will be done in consultation with School Perceptions to preserve statistical validity.
